Around 5:30pm the Rockaway Twp Fire Department received a report of a possible house fire in the area of 60 Meriden Rd Fire Co's 1 and 3 were dispatched, At the same time NJ Forest Fire Service Tower (Greystone) Dispatched a Brush truck to the area of Green Pond Rd And Meriden Rd For a smoke condition rising above the trees. Within a minute the Fire Tower alerted the unit as to a working house fire as well as the Rockaway Twp Dispatch. The fire tower could see a large plume of smoke now rising As Fire department units were inroute. While unite were responding they were advised of possibly Two people trapped inside. One resident was outside as the fire department arrived and confirmed there was a second party still inside the house. Fire fighter quickly rescued the second victim and was transported by Medi-vac to a local hospital. The other person was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation
