Wharton 3rd Alarm Fire on 01.22.14
Shorty after 10:30pm the Wharton Fire Department was dispatched to 183 South Main Street in the Borough for a reported house fire . The First arriving Police unit arrived on scene and advised he had a working fire in a 2 1/2 story Home Police assisted in evacuating the residents of the home . One resident jumped from the 2nd floor with burns to escape from the fire . The resident was transported to St Barnabus Hospital & Burn Center . within minutes of arrival of the fire dept a 2nd Alarm was transmitted bringing Mutual aid into the scene. As Heavy Fire Conditions overtook the dwelling and started to extend into two other homes a 3rd Alarm was transmitted bringing additional Fire Departments and the County Rehab Unit as well as the County Air Truck to the Scene . Two other residents suffered smoke inhalation that were transported to St Clares Hospital in Dover by St Clares Hospital EMS and were later released Fire Fighters were hampered by the temperature close to Zero and a breeze bringing the wind chill close to -10 degrees during the fire St Clares EMS remained on scene to tend any further injuries the Wharton Cleared the scene around 5:30am The Cause of the Fire is under investigation at this time
